I finally did it. I finished (for now) setting up my new blog. With it now hosted on my webpage and using the Wordpress framework, it allows so many more possibilities, if you can program, that you just cannot do with Live Journal. To the three people who have listed me as a friend and therefore might have been using the Live Journal friend page to read my blog: I apologize for making you go to a different page. You can use the RSS feed if you still want everything in on place. All of my old posts from here and all of your old comments have been backlogged on my site. Anyone who left a comment on here already has an account to post comments on the new blog. Contact me by email or AIM to find out your login and password. So, come one everybody, come Visit The Saint.
Alex: Tik, would you be Tiger Wood's butler? Tik: Yes. A: What if you had to lick his ass every day? T: No! A: Once a week? T: No! A: Once a month? T: No! A: Ok, how about you have to lick his wife's ass while he watches and masturbates? T: Hell Yeah! A: ...and you'd have to wear a bear costume. ... Billy: I don't see how that makes it any weirder.
There is even the people that answer phones all day on the other side of my cubicle wall.
Driving back and forth to upstate New York for Christmas gave me a lot of time to think. And as I still am very much at a lose when it comes to the concept of playing slots, I compiled the following. Interview Questions for a Slot Player(Interview to be done while the player is playing a slot machine.)
- How long have you been playing this slot machine?
- What is the biggest pay out you have gotten from this slot machine?
- Why did you choose to play this machine?
- Do you believe that machines will go on "hot" or "cold" streaks? If so, how would one know when one was about to happen?
- How long have you been playing slots in general?
- Over this time, did you set certain lines, where if crossed you would move to the higher machines? (Ex. Move to quarter slots if the person started playing nickel slots.)
- Over this time, did you ever consider moving down to lower machines if you were doing poorly?
- What is the biggest win you have ever had playing slots?
- Do you play other games in the casino, such as Roulette or Keno?
That's all I have for now. Obviously, some of the questions will work better based on the player and some answer could lead to other interesting questions.
Yesterday Evan, Will and I went to play in a casino for the the first time. I know everyone says it, but these things really are perfectly engineered in order to 1) not let you out, 2) give you no concept of time, 3) feel very very comfortable. Moving on to the reason we were there, Poker. The room was really nice. Chairs and tables were very comfortable. The chips were heavier and slicker than I am used to, and thus chip tricks had to be limited. Most of the dealers were nice and talkative, made a good environment. So I ended up playing for about five hours. At about 30 hands per hour, that puts me at a very exhaustive 150 hands. Based on that number, my win-rate was a staggering -233bb/100. Yes, you read that correctly, there is no missing decimal that is supposed to be there. Based on the way the hands ran, I honestly think that many other people loose a lot more if they ran as bad as I did. First big hand, I get AT in early position, probably 4 people to the flop. A8T, SHIP IT, HOLLA!! I don't remember the action, but after the turn it is just me and one other guy. I think he min-raised the turn, but either way, I know he thinks he has a good hand, but as we just started, who knows what that means. I get to showdown cheaply from there and he has 88. Wasn't I supposed to be broke there? Some more hands pass. I remember that c-betting isn't worth it at this table. I get TT in EP, 2 people call my raise. Flop is AxA, I bet and get one caller. He has Ax a lot, but I didn't worry about it as I don't have many chips. My assumption was correct and I have to reload. I get AA in EP, 4 callers. I'm sorry I suck at remembering the board, but I got 2 callers on the flop. Something in my head says to check, this is followed by a big bet and a push. I scratch my head and muck, they were both ahead of my pair. I have T8s, x9J I call a bet to see the turn. Q, Ship it!! I bet and call when I get raised. T, I check call and am pissed off when he shows KT. I thought the river sucked, but it saved my stack. I get 22 in EP, 80 billion people see he flop. 28Q, Ship it, Holla!! Bet, Raise, Push, Call. He shows QQ. This is the same guy that had 88 earlier, won the hand where I folded AA, and had the KT. I go for a walk to check on Evan and Stewie. We have lunch and head back to the tables. I have JT and the flop is QTx, I call a bet. J, I raise when the guy bets again. J, SHIP IT, HOLLA!!! Bet, raise, push, call. He shows QJ. At this point I'm pretty much just laughing. I buy-in for another 50 big blinds, and basically sit on that for another hour or two. J4 in the big blind, we check around a J high flop. J, I bet out and get 1 caller. The talkative guy at the table says I'd have to be a genius to have a J. I get called on the river by a guy who just back-doored a flush. More nothing, then I get 88 vs a raise on my right and I push my short stack. He has TT and I'm done for the night. Slot Machines. I didn't understand them before I went and having each of us trying $5 on them, I understand them less. They are not entertaining. They are not fun. Half the time there are so many line possibilities that you only know that you win when the machine tells you. I thought the nickel slots were bad, then I saw the penny slots. I've been home for a few days. This means that my parents have gotten me to listen to a fair amount of Christmas songs. It's fine when doing the tree, but the whole ride home from Boston is a little much. Since I was being subjected to this stuff, I started actually listening to what some of the songs were talking about. The song that struck me the most was Baby It's Cold Outside. Turns out this song really has nothing to do with Christmas, just happens to be set during the winter. What is actually happening in the song is the woman is thinking about ending the night and heading home after having spent the evening with the man. So, it really ends up boiling down to, the guy wants some ass. She probably likes him enough, but must not do that on the first date. Then the comments about drinking start getting more prevalent. Turns out he really wants this ass, enough to get her drunk enough to say yes. Now those are some great American values, if I've ever heard any. Exactly the type of things I want my kids to be listening to during the young and impressionable years. I don't care what people say about eating raw eggs, uncooked cookie dough is levels above the cookies they become when baked.
First of all, this is only over 700 hands, so all conclusions made of this can be completely useless. This ended up being a lot longer than I expected. It's not my fault, posting hands just takes up a lot of space. Maybe it was just the tables I was playing at, but it seemed that they play deeper than .5/1. The average stack at .5/1 was less than 100bb. Most of the tables I saw had many people with over 200bb stacks. While I was playing I had a 250bb stack at one table and a 300bb stack at another (but that's getting a little ahead of ourselves). Also note that this was on Absolute Poker where the max buy-in is 200bb. So maybe there are just more people buying-in for the full amount then at .5/1. Now for the fun part. This is the ride I went on last night: Half of those vertical lines are because of 1 guy. He is my new best friend and I will be spending as much time at his tables as possible. +.03 BB/100 BIOTCHES This graph starts right after I cut through 50nl 6max like it was butter. 0-3k: Just some variance. 10k: See, it was variance. 16k: Could I run colder? (Note: At this point I haven't looked at the graph of just hands. I was using the graph of my bankroll, which includes bonuses and rakeback.) 22k: (I look at the graph of my hands.) HOLY FUCKING SHIT! I go to 2+2 and ask what I'm going wrong. 23k: OOHHH, now I get it. 30k: I can't wait until I can start playing $1/$2. (I decided that even though I am bankrolled for $1/$2, I am going to wait until I have a winning career at 100nl before I move up.) 38k: Just 30 more dollars. I can taste it. 40k: WWWEEEEE!!! (I start thinking I suck at poker, but most of the big hands were actually not my fault.) 43k: Well at least that is over. 47k: OMG WTF!!! 53k: Wow, the poker gods really must feel bad about October. 54.8k: So close, I can stay up till I make it. (TERRIBLE DECISION) 56k: Not this again. 57k: Sunday players are my hero!!! You can't see it, but at about 56k I actually was +2 for like 1 hand and didn't know it. The end of the graph is very vertical. This is because I ran at 97.42 bb/100 from Friday until now. Below is a graph and stats of what I did after the checkup with 2+2. $15 dollars from poker + lots of bonuses + 40k hands with 28% rakeback. If anyone wants lots of money, go look for me at the Stars $1/$2 6max NL tables.
If you are in Boston, make sure you get on the train before the last one. Sitting at all the major hubs for 5-10 minutes is not fun. Even if the movie is set in Boston, you are allowed to have people with out bad attempts at a Boston accent.

Album out in a week. Plus:
I procrastinate too much? This isn't the first time I've seen this screen.
So, it had seemed like I was starting to work back after a bad downsizing. Turns out the downswing isn't quite done yet. So, I've taken the following steps to not think about it's existence. Step 1: Find something else in your life that is worse. This is where my Electronics class comes in. First midterm was below the class average(15% of the class grade). First project looks like it will probably get a similar score (10%). Tomorrow is the second midterm. (Don't ask me why the school calls them midterms when there are more than one of them.) I also no intention of working with building circuits and electronic systems, so I am not interested by this class. There is a high probability that this class will be the worst grade I have ever gotten for a class. Step 2: Find someone who is doing worse than you in poker.Grimstarr. Yeah, what can I say? You go to my school, but I've never met you. Your self-control is so bad that you told people you would give them $100 if they saw you playing higher than $25/$50 NL. Despite the fact that you have played in games where the blinds are equal to what I bring to the table, I feel I am a better player because I know when to say when. I don't know how much you are down or how long it has been over, but I'm sure that when scaled it's worse than me and more within your control. Step 3: Buy something nice. PS - I just realized the biggest drawer of my dresser has been empty all year. WTF!
It's interview season for all the students going on COOP in January (myself included). Within the last week I've been asked 3 times how to tie a tie. If your dad didn't teach you how to do that at any point before college, I don't want to think about what else he didn't teach you. One interview today and another one in the works. I'm so ready to be done with classes. Pay checks are also nice.

The BeatlesMy parents were fans when they were young, just like anyone else who grew up while they blew up in America. Because of this I had some introduction to their music, but never in the form of an album or actually listening to the music critically. Beyond that, my knowledge of them was hearing other people talk about how they shaped rock music and blah blah. I decided they were over-rated and never really took any steps to listen to their works. Fast forward to a year ago. Evan tells me he's going to make me listen to four Beatles albums, because I'm missing something by having not heard them. Ok, whatever. Evan proceeds to be lazy and not get the albums. Fast forward to just under two months ago. Evan finally gets off his ass and gets the four albums. He hands me Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper and The White Album. The clouds part, the sun shines down, birds and angles sing. Fast forward to now. I've listened to each album a couple times though, so I feel I can start making comments. Do be honest, I usually just stick to listening to music and not talking about it, so don't expect lots of profound explanations to go with my comments. My Rank of the Albums as of Now 4. Rubber Soul We get it, love, where are the drugs? Stand out tracks: The Word, Wait, Run for Your Life. 3. The White Album Long. The one down side of a double album is that it's hard to get a feel for the whole album. Maybe I should try just doing it one disc at a time. The plus side is lots of songs means lots of good songs. Stand out tracks: Glass Onion, The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Blackbird, Yer Blues, Helter Skelter 2. Sgt. Pepper Kinda at a lose for words. But then again I didn't really make many real comments about each album, so why start here? I can say it's one hell of a first third of an album (With a Little Help from My Friends, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Getting Better) Other stand out tracks: She's Leaving Home, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!, Good Morning Good Morning, A Day in the Life 1. Revolver From the first time I listened, I felt it. Every track is very good. With the exception of Yellow Submarine, everything fits in it's place. Stand out tracks: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, For No One, Got to Get You Into My Life, Tomorrow Never Knows So there you go. Don't think that Rubber Soul being 4 means I don't like it. My mind can't hold enough information at once, so the stand out tracks are just picked by re-listening to a few seconds of the middle of each track.

Road to Robusto, Or Why I No Longer have Hair Or My Last Day of Legal Online Poker? A little over 2 months ago I posted this. I talked about how I used to suck at poker, how I was doing a lot better, and what my plans were for moving to 200nl. Since that post I deiced, to prove to myself that I could beat the level, that I would not play 200nl until I had a winning career for 100nl. Things have been going well since then. A little over a week ago I realized that I was only a few buy-ins away from reaching my goal. I was going to just hold out until I crossed the line and then make one post that was just the graph and "Ship it, Holla!", then today happened. Around 4:30 I started up some tables and got to playing, like any normal day. 400+ hands later, I was carrying a nice little average of 50+ big blinds per 100 hands. Holla! Well the rush didn't exactly stop. The following is the graph of my total winnings vs hands for the day. Key Hands: All hands are 6 handed unless noted. 269: KK (BB), 2 limps, raise to 5, 1 caller(MP). 8dJh5h, I bet 7 into 12, call 9d I bet 18 into 26, call 8c I bet 32 into 62, push, (I am covered and have 100 left) I fold 325: J2 (BB), 4 limps, I check 2JA, I bet 3 into 5, Villain pushes 90 (he has been doing this repeatedly in the last few orbits), I call He shows AQs (better than I would have guessed), my J2 holds. 430: Table is dying, only 3 dealt in SB raises to 2, I call with AJs 7JA, SB bets 2 into 4, I call J, SB bets 4 into 8, I call 2, SB bets 10 into 16, I raise to 30, SB pushes, I call for another 70. SB shows JT 431: Different table AK (mp) raise to 4, button pushes for 18 (vpip 60% /pfr 28%), bb calls for 15 (vpip 40% /pfr 7%), I call button shows Q3s, BB shows 88, K on the flop 465: AA (utg) raise to 4, 2 callers 5d8dTs, SB bets 4 into 12, I raise to 12, CO (vpip 50%) pushes for 76, I call CO shows 97o. He says "bullshit" and leaves. here to 990: I honestly can't remember at this point. Assume it was crazy and ridiculous. All my tables for the day had average vpip's of at min 35, many 40s, and at least one 50. The ups are most likely me flopping sets, I did that a lot. 990-1320: C-Bet semi-bluff draw versus calling station doesn't come. C-Bet semi-bluff draw, C-Bet Turn semi-bluff draw versus calling station doesn't come. 1312: KK (button) folds to me, raise to 4, BB (vpip 60%/pfr 7%) min-raises to 8, I call 436, BB bets 36 into 16, I push for a total of 100, he calls with AT turn: T river: 9 1384: 99 (utg) raise to 4, folds to BB (vpip 30%/pfr 10%) who min-raises to 8, I call 5c9dTd: BB bets 15 into 16, I call 3d: BB bets 40 into 46, I push for a total of 75, BB insta calls and shows AA river: Ad He says (without any promt) "f u all, Aces are the better hand" I go for a walk. 1400: I get AA to KK, he reraises preflop, its all in on the flop. Total Net: $292, 19.62bb/100, I'm roughly a buyin away from moving up. Or am I? Our friend in Washington were very active today. The Internet Gambling bill got attached onto the Port Security bill. Terrorism Bad, Bill (probably officially by now) destined to pass. A good number of people give good speeches saying this is bullshit and then vote for the bill because you are a terrorist if you vote against Port Security. I am really tired. I need to be awake really early. I should have been asleep when my AA ran into KK.
Dear World, From now on, you are no longer allowed just look at me blankly when I say what my major is. Yes, it's a hard major. Yes, it does imply that I am smarter than some people. However, this doesn't mean I am on some huge other level above some of the other intellectually taxing professions. Just because you have a better general understanding of what a brain surgeon is doing doesn't mean it's an easier job. It's not even the assumed intelligence that bothers me, it's the lack of response. Saying "That must be hard." is better than you just staring. Thank You. PS Hey look, it's Gary Coleman.
